The Stash is a series in which we’ll be bringing you the Websavant team’s favorite tips, tools and secrets for Getting Stuff Done. And before you ask, no one is paying us to say nice things about them or their products. We just believe in sharing a great find and giving praise for the little things that make our lives better.

We’ll kick things off with a fun one. If you’re anything like us, every weekday morning’s first order of business once we have coffee in hand is to open our email from theSkimm. What is theSkimm you say? Glad you asked. It’s a daily (Monday-Friday) email that lands in your inbox bright and early, containing quick, smart and pithy recaps on the day’s major news, in bite-sized chunks. They say “theSkimm makes it easier to be smarter.”  Sound awesome? We know!

Founded in 2012 by Danielle Weisenberg and Carly Zakin, theSkimm now has more than 3.5 million active subscribers, an army of over 12,000 “Skimmbassadors” and a daily open rate of 40 percent. That’s a lot of people walking into morning meetings feeling smarter!

But wait, it just got better. This week, theSkimm launched a brand new product called Skimm Ahead; an iOS app that they say, is “like your calendar ate a smart cookie.”  They had our attention. “Never again will you wonder when Beyonce tickets go on sale, what time the State of the Union is on, or when your favorite show is coming back on Netflix” they promise. The calendar is visible in theSkimm iPhone app, and can be integrated directly into your iPhone calendar.  For $2.99/month (with the first month free as a little push), that’s one more way to feel a step ahead with almost zero time and effort. Music to any busy multi-tasker’s ears!
